Help Identifying turtle

krim5 Nov 14, 2004 11:08 AM

Someone gave this guy to me. He was found near St Pete Florida. I have found ornates and florida boxies here, but not sure what this guy is. He is larger than an ornate, but not as domed as a florida boxie. He has a very concave plastron and has three nails on the back feet. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Shawnon

Thats pretty typical of the Florida Box turtles i've seen in the Tampa Bay area.

This is a Florida Box Turtle. Ornate Box turtles do not occur anywhere near Florida, in fact, the closest place to find them is in Texas.

I do have an ornate that was found in Florida by a friend of mine. Could have been an escapee I guess.
