Laying eggs

Im a little new to cresteds so I think one of my females is gravid. I put a nest box in the cage but do cresteds dig a hole like chameleons or do they simply lay the egg on top of the mulch??? I know leaopards dig and lay but do cresteds dig and lay????

it depends on the crestie, and how deep the substrate in the lay box is. everytime i've found eggs they were about 1/2 way buried or just under the surface. but i also only have the substrate like an inch deep or so.

In my experience, they always dig to the bottom of the nest box.
