Was he just having a bad day or is he cranky all the time?
He is not cranky all the time but he does have his moments. He is the reason I got into rhinos. He belonged to the guy I get my rats from (for my snakes). I used to see him every week and when I would open his cage he would always walk onto my shoulder and I would pet him and hold him. He was soooo friendly. After a couple of months the guy asked me if I wanted to buy him and I thought he is such a sweet lizard, whats one more mouth to feed... I brought him home and he became a terror. If I walked up to the cage he would stand up, arch his back and pee. He would throw mulch at the door and make a mess. It was like a different lizard. I quarantine all new animals for 90 days. By the end of the 90 days he was handleable again. Then I moved him outdoors into a nice big pen and he started whipping and biting again. He is OK most of the time now but still gets upset if you pick him up when he does not want to be held.
