Who is the best pet the Yellow head or the Selayar ?

Leiopython Nov 14, 2004 06:44 PM

Sorry to ask an another question but the girl who was selling is Selayar decide to keep it, so I will go with a baby, but I don't know if the Selayar always make good pets, I have heard that some specimen are bad tempered and that the Yellow Head makes good pets with docile temperament. But I don't know how long they become, I will buy a male because I don't want a monster, I would like a retic of about 12 to 15 feet max and with a very docile temperament.

Thank you very much.

Mathieu

p.s. I will probably go at the next White Plains show, do you know good breaders of retic that will be there ?

If you want a male that stay's small,I would go with a Jampea. As far as a better "pet" Retic,CB are always calmer than the Ch sold by dealers at shows for $65!!The calmest Retics I've ever owned, have always been Tigers....seems to be genetic.
I'm not sure about breeders at White Plains,But NERD has CB normals for sale. Hope this helps!

If you can find a reputable breeder selling cb animals, a yellowhead retic would be a great addition. Get one from a baby and enjoy the changes that they undergo. Here's a Thai animal that is very docile and showing great color at under a year in age.

Id say a tiger is the way to go. I had the pleasure of working with a pair of (cbb) 13' yellow heads, and they were a HANDFULL! not that they are all like that...

My tiger has bit me once, and that was when i got a little too close to his rat while he was feeding... other than that hes a perfect angel.

the best choice of pet retic is always CBB. If you are not worried about size any of the Captive Bred retics are good choices. Especially if you are just getting started with reticulated pythons, the issues that can arise with WC specimens are only magnified with age and size.
There are reputable breeders with which to obtain many CBB animals.
