Heat Tape: Where can I buy one?

-JayDog- Nov 14, 2004 06:56 PM

I'm looking to replace my heat bulb with a heat tape. How does everybody feel about heat tape Vs. red bulbs? I was wondering where I can purchase one. I looked at Petco and PetSmart and neither store has any for sale. Is there a website that sells them?

Thanks

Also, what is a safe brand? I want to trust the heat tape that it wont burn my house down.

Beanfarm.com sells heat tape by the foot.

The wiring is up to you though, so if you are not comfortable wiring things(or don't know how) you should stick to the ZooMed UTH that they sell in most pet stores.

When we ordered our heat tape from beanfarm they sent a booklet that told step by step how to hook it up.

I do believe it is a simple electricity 101 project. I intend to buy some and build a rack myself soon. But some people are uncomfortable with having to do any wiring themselves. I just feel it should be clear that it is a wire it yourself project. Then if they don't want to do the wiring buying the ZooMed or Cobra UTH is certainly a viable option.
