Constriction challeged...

Joeycoco98 Nov 14, 2004 09:07 PM

I have a South Florida King that appears to have no constriction ability at all. He just grabs hold of his food and presses it against the ground or side of the tank. Is this a common trait in this phase of the Florida Kings. Also, this is not posted to spark a debate of feeding live or F/T. I feed booth was as needed.

Thanks in advance,
Miller

I have seen this commonly in snakes that are fed mostly pre-killed/FT prey. The solution is simple,...pre-kill the prey.

The consequences of this are that the snake could be bitten in the jawbone or on some other sensitive structure in the mouth or pharynx. This can lead to very serious, sometimes fatal infections. This is just another reason to feed F/T.
