chill fella...

First of all, you don't need to put holes in the shipping box. Boxes are not air tight so air will get in. Furthermore, if you put holes in it, that would defeat the purpose of the insulated boxes the first place, especialy since the weather is getting colder.

so don't worry, The chameleons won't suffocate. you should be more concern with keeping the right temperature in the box.

Put her in a deli container with some holes punched in the lid and around the top. Put a stick or two in with her so she has something to hold on to. Place the deli container in a box and pack around with crumpled newspaper. If you live or are shipping to a cold area, put a heat pack in the box above her. (Some places are already too cold to ship at all I think.) Print off some signs with a picture of a chameleon that say: LIVE, HARMLESS CHAMELEON, Handle with Care. Tape a couple of these to the SIDES of the box so they don't get covered by shipping labels. Be sure to ship her overnight so that she is delivered before noon the next day.

Here are two links (first is the text, second, the pictorial guide):

Regulations may have changed with some of the curiers however so you will want to contact the curiers to find out what their regulations are with shipping lizards. I know that many people get around these regulations by claiming them as live plants, etc., rather than a lizard but you should contact the companies and determine what their regulations are.
