Tux the Tegu, Playing ball...

theTegu Nov 14, 2004 10:08 PM

Today while at a petshop I realized I have never seen "Tegu" toys. I looked at the bird, rodent, cat & dog toys then decided to make something. I picked up a thick rubber ball that I knew Tux couldn't swallow or each through. It had a hole in one side and I made another hole on the otherside. The holes are both too small for Tux to stick his head into, but large enough for a cricket to fit inside of.

After a minute of examining the "cricket ball" Tux saw movement, a cricket stuck its poorly timed head out of one of the holes... snatch.. One less cricket in the wonderful cricket ball. It's a success! Tux loves the ball, he loves the little "prizes" and enjoys crawling over, under and tossing the ball around with his nose to get the crickets to come out.

If you wanna see Tux at play just click HERE to visit the gallery on theTegu.com

Feel free while there to register, post to the forum or add your Tegu pictures to the gallery. You can make your own album.

If you look back a month or so you will see a lot of discussion about Tegus at play and toys. Here are a few pictures of my guy playing with a ball and shoes with no food involved. More pix can be found in the KS gallery

I'll have to look back through the archives, I must have missed it.

Tux has a couple balls but he absolutely loves the 'cricket ball'. On the side of caution I never leave it in there unattended and I only let him play with it for 15 to 20 minutes. I limit the time so he doesn't get any mouth sores from grabbing the ball or trying to pick it up with his snout.

Anyways, I enjoyed your pictures and you have a great looking Tegu. You should post his pics in the gallery on thetegu.com.

Yea, I had a look at your site and it seemed nice and informative. I was going to try and post all my pictures there to help you and other Tegu keepers who wanted to see other gu's out there. Unfortunately when I look ed at I couldn't figure out how to post the pix there. I will have another look and give it a try.

You need to register first, then go into the Gallery, choose the section want (Tegu Photos or Other Pet Photos) then you can add pictures.

On any page if you look in the top left you will see the Main Menu. Click "Useful Info", when they next page comes up press "Help" and it will give you directions step by step for adding your photos.

I need to make the registration and help more user friendly. If you have other input please drop me an email or message.

Yea, it is amazing the macro detail you can get with an inexpensive Nikon Cool Pix 4300. I shot a few more tonight and uploaded them.
