I saw a vendor who had 2 young MHDs for sale, fairly young, and looked to be in pretty good shape, bright but not angry bright colors, legs not toothpick thin, and standing UP, not just laying on the bottom of their containers. This guy admitted that they were imports, and I asked him to PLEASE tell anyone who bought them to go to FroggieBs website. HE actually asked me to write the information down TWICE, once for him to take back to his shop, and once for anyone who bought the animals. I also STRESSED how important running water is for these guys, and he said he never had a problem with other MHDs in hs store, he has them in a large (for a petstore) tall enclosure with a ficus in it, and they water the plants from the top fo the enclosure every day, and the dragons drink off the leaves (he also has a dripper set up over the plant as well).
I told him to PLEASE have the new owners take the animals to a vet or to treat them with Pancure, because of the high Parasite load in the imports, and told him the amount I was told to use on a full grown animal, and he said he kept some in his shop, and if they did not sell, would treat them himself (I hope he does)
He seemed to be positively welcoming of the information, and said he would get a water dish with another dripper for them in his store (he said, how hard can that be if it will keep them healthy)
It was nice to see someone actualy appear to care about their "stock" animals
BTW it looked like he had a female and a male, one had VERY tiny diamond shaped waist, and the other much more parallel/pencil shaped going into the tail
I did tell him, I was no longer buying imported animals, he accepted that without getting any attitude. Again, nice to see.

I imagined that this show was huge ... was it? Whenever I attend the local show in NH, I always look for the unusual. As I mentioned before, the vendor who I bought my original trio from was there - and was the only vendor with MHD's. Very nice guy, and pretty well informed. One of his co-workers had a pretty female perched comfortably on her shoulder.
It's great to hear that the gentleman was open to your recommendations and information, Elizabeth. Many times, I'm left with the impression from some vendors that they don't know, don't care, and couldn't be bothered.

I like to look for unusual lizards. The most unusual that I found at the last show, and in hindsight wished that I had picked up, were a pair of Emerald Tree Skinks (Dasia Smaragdina). I had never seen them before, and have not seen them on anybody's list in the States, since.
