Redfoot question...please don't laugh!

Linda G Nov 15, 2004 10:19 AM

How often do your Redfoots go poop? Peabody doesn't seem
to go often and when he does it is pretty large for his
size. He is 2 years old and weighs 500 grams (wasn't sure if
this info was needed)

Is this normal?

Linda

Hi, My redfoot SAGE is 10 months old, 186 grams. He is soaked first in warm water every day for 7 to 10 min, then feed... he poos every time he is soaked. His shell is smooth and hard, ..he is alert and active...Shawne1

~My little 7 month old redfoot doesnt poop everyday either...sometimes he only poops 3 or 4 times a week...I soak him twice a week too and give him decent temps but thats just his system I guess...

My 3-year-old goes maybe 3 times a week and it IS rather large for her size. I do make sure that she has enough fiber and whatnot, so that isn't a problem.

Now, the weird one is my yellowfoot. She's a year old and goes MAYBE once a week, if I'm lucky. Sometimes, but only if it is a red-letter week, she will go twice in the same week. Then, again, her's is so small that she may actually go more often and I don't notice, even when cleaning her habitat!

maybe he is doing little poops in between but sometimes
they are so large that it appears to have filled his intestines.

I can't think of any reason why there would be a problem
but just wondered.

How big is your Redfoot at 3 years? weight/shell length.

Thanks
Linda

Linda,

Shellie is 2 1/2 pounds and about 6 inches SCL at three years old. She gained weight fast when she was younger and has slowed down as we have decreased the amount of "free feed" time. I don't want her to pyramid!
