Exo-terra bulb and lighting/heating question

skyclad Nov 15, 2004 11:26 AM

Hi, I'm using a night-glo exo-terra light bulb with a heat lamp. The temps in the tank are perfect for my JCP. I know it's a light for nocturnal purposes but I keep that light on constantly 24/7. Is this ok to do? He seems fine, sleeps all day, eats well, and is in good health. His tank is by the window so there's plenty of light coming in during the day. If that light is always on does it confuse the animal? He sleeps during the day and gets plenty of light from the window so I don't see how it would confuse him. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

i have my 3 1/2 year old jcp in a 55 gal tank with a dual light fixture. it has seperate on off switches so i was able to hook it up to a dual plug timer.i have it set up for a 12/12 cycle one bulb is a red 100watt day glo then it switches to a 75 watt blacklight bulb at night. i also have a towel covering the xposed parts of the mesh screen top and she like it in there.
