This is really the wrong forum to ask this type of question on. Most everyone here is very against hybridization even to the point of keeping Pituophis localities pure down to the County. I will try to be civil where others will most like not be. Crossing a leucistic southern pine to a deppei would really be a pointless cross, a leucistic southern pine would really not look much different than a leucistic deppei. You have to ask yourself, what is your goal. If your goal is to have an all white pit then why not just keep the leucistic southern. Also, even if you did produce offspring, requirements in husbandry are different enough between the two species that it might be tough to know which is correct for each individual hatchling. Babies would surely be tough to get rid of as well. I understand that this might not be what you want to hear but really it is the truth. Just my two cents. Hope that it helps. Take care!

Yeah that was worth 2 cents.
I try to be polite and I get a reply like that. Its no wonder no one posts here much anymore.
Say, Jeremy is just trying to be honest with his opinion. He makes some very straight forward facts that you really ought to consider. I've done a cross before but won't do it again simply because of some of the points that he made. It's just not worth it. You asked a question on a particular forum and you got a very straight answer. That response was totally wrong and you should be thankful that you didn't get flamed.
Scott
I'm still sorta new around here. I've heard this expression before, what does it mean to be "flamed"?
by the way, I agree...so don't flame me, whatever that means
Jeremy was nice enough to let you in on the facts about the irresponsible act of breeding two beautiful pits together..IF that would be possible to begin with. And then you come back with your post that was quite rude. Honestly..that really explains a lot.
Scott....thank you for your post as well. Your experience is valuable and only backs up my opinion and Jeremy's as well.
LATER!

Hey Dude,
CHILL OUT!!!!! You ask for opinions, you're going to get them whether they are what you want to hear or not!!! Personally I agree with Jeremy, Billy, et.al. Those of us that work our tails off to support and keep straight locale animals and species are more than a little touchy about the notion of creating mutts!!!!!
Just because you can do it doesn't mean you ought to do it. But it is a free country. Just be sure you label your critters honestly!

Does anyone have a Persian cat I can breed to my Weimeraner??

wouldn't that be even better?........:>/
Personally, I wouldn't try it with snakes. There were some posts a while back about a Brattler, bullsnake/rattler cross.
I like my snakes just like they are, not to say intergrades don't happen in nature. They do. Why spend your time and effort creating something that there is no market for?

In 10-20 years when locale animals will be extremely difficult to come by, you can be one of the proud members that ruined pure and spectacular locale animals. That is definitely something to be proud of!
Honestly, All it will do is make a white snake.... there are a ton of species (20 plus) with animals that carry this gene. Try buying one of them. They are not expensive...a lot less then that pair of pits. It will take a lot less time, and money....to get better results.
Get some leucistics ratsnakes....if you are lucky you will produce the highly sought after bug eyed morph!
