Small victory over the African scam artists......

survey33 Nov 15, 2004 06:34 PM

Like most people who post on the classifieds, I get many scam offers. They are easy to spot, the english is just not quite right, and they usually want to send you a check for alot more than the purchase and have you send them the balance. Undoubtably a bad check, amazing that people fall for it. I don't even post that much so I bet some people get alot more scam offers than me.

Anyways, I've been leading this guy on for 2 weeks now (the snake is long since sold). I had him send the check to Donald Rump on 1234 Micky Mouse lane, Rattlesnake, OK.

So now he's emailing me about FEDEX saying the address is incorrect (go figure!) and I should go to FEDEX and pick it up. He sent a priority envelope from Lagos, Nigeria. Hopefully a little of his time and a few dollars wasted. Just thought I'd share.

I have them send them to my real address. I enjoy collecting them and the quality time I spend leading them on.

Do they appear real enough that banks would actually cash them mistakenly?

You should have had him send it to G. Bush, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500.

THAT would have gotten him some attention.

Yeah, that would certainly caught somebodies eye. I checked the FEDEX site and it cost him $62.17 to send his mail priority to here, so at least he is out that.

If you really want to see the length someone will go to mess with the African scam artists, you could go to www.ebolamonkeyman.com . This guy is truly classic and the site is pretty entertaining to read.
