Yellow Anaconda Wont Eat

ben_renick Nov 15, 2004 08:32 PM

I've tried to feed my yellow anaconda a f/t rat pup for the last 3 weeks, which she has eaten for me 3 times so far, and the last three times, she didn't take. I did start her out feeding in water, and those three times I didn't, but I just tried, and then I put her in my sink and she wouldn't take it... She hasn't lost any weight, she is still the same size, but any reason why? I'm going to try to put her in the water first next time... Another thing about it is, she does seem to have an appitite for my hand, because handling has become her snapping... Could it be the cold season, or what?

I asked this question awhile back and only on eother person had the same problem. My green hasnt been taking her food NEARLY as often as she usually does since winter started. Though I am keeping her temps the same. I think some snakes just know its winter no matter what. She also got snappy. She wouldnt eat, but would munch my hand till I put her away. Which is not like her unless she is hungry!!! It took her a good 2 months to take a rat again. A nice fat one at that! Now she is doing it again though. So I am just going to give her a month then try again.
I do agree, I think its the season.
