I would be interested in comparing husbandry/breeding notes with others working with this species.

Some experience with the rare "round-shelled" variant you show in the first photo: I obtained three of these and in the months i owned them, they NEVER emrged from their shells in my presence, even when I was hidden from view. It was impossible to force their hinge open enough even to force feed them and they eventually starved. I hope this is not typical of this variant as a whole. Let me know if you get it to feed regularly. I have had the typical oval variants, one for 20 and the other for about 14 years now, but it is a roll of the dice whether they come in healthy enough to survive. Some swear by worming them.
They are all doing great and have been feeding on their own for almost 2 years. Diet includes Mazuri, Pinkies, Bananas, Earthworms, chopped greens, Mealworms etc.
I actually was curious as to other keepers experiences regarding enclosures (size, temps, substrate) and breeding/incubating.
In the time I have had them they are quite bold when it comes to breeding seeming to care little if I'm watching or not.
In addition, with the exception of one individual, they will pretty much eat from your hand.
