I use UPS. They do allow live animals as long as it's harmless. Other people use FedEx. I've also had animals shipped priority mail through the post office.
Hope this helps,
Cricket
there is a shipping forum on KS where you can get info, too.

Technically, with UPS, you're supposed to have an account setup to do live animals. If you go to a UPS Store, they're all privately owned, so they're hesitant to do that. You need to go through 1800-pick-ups if you wanted to get the account setup. USPS will ship live, but they aren't the best at meeting their shipping promises for delivery times. You kinda have to sweettalk them sometimes too, because they get nervous about that kinda stuff and may say no.

What I was trying to say is that UPS Stores won't take them. You're supposed to have a live animal account, and have a daily pickup set up. Sometimes they'll let you call in individual pick ups, say, if you were only shipping a few a month (or only one), but you're supposed to have a daily pick up set up if you are sending live animals (by their rules). Your best bet is to just ship it next day air in a blank box. I know lots of people do that, and while it's not totally legal (to UPS) it's the most realistic and best way to do a single animal shipment. Call in a pick up and keep your mouth shut.

If you have a UPS account, You can just print the shipping label at home, prepare your package and drop it off at any UPS store. usually the only thing they will say is "you're all set". There is no point in putting avoid extreme temperature on the box, as they dont have temperature controlled cargo anyway. Just put your heat packs in the box and your chameleon should be fine. I really wouldn't reccomend USPS, as they always deliver one day late eventhough you paid for overnight shipping. And if it is very cold, most likely your chameleon won't arrive alive.
kay. thanx all for the replys. and thanx for the help.

The only time I shipped with them it was leopard geckos and they were delayed and arrived dead. That is also the only time in the entire time I have been shipping reptiles that I have had a casualty. Also if you run up against a wall it can be certain employees on a power trip. Usually they say no animals at all and they have not even read all their UPS guidelines because harmless lizards are allowed but not snakes (go figure more prejudice)
If you go to a different employee you may get a different answer but just not putting a lable on it at all may be your best bet in a pinch. I also think Airborne and Fed ex take animals but in my experience they have made delivery mistakes like wrong address and such.
Also if you were shipping perishables like chocolate you would be putting a sign on the box that said "keep room temp" "Fragile" and "Perishable do not delay". Also just a thought. I have received snakes from some of the biggest best known snake breeders in the country through UPS. Of course the box was not labled "Hey you phobic carriers there is a snake in here" You are risking getting in trouble though so I'm not really telling you to do that.
