New background doing it's job

cable2001 Nov 16, 2004 07:15 AM

Finally! I've been struggling with temps ever since I got my collareds. I have two UVB lights, one basking bulb, one plain lightbulb, and a purple light for nighttime. I was never able to get the temp above 90°, and that was when it was still warm outside and the house was warmer. Lately, I've been hovering around 85°.

Now, with the new background to help hold in heat and insulate, the temp hovers right around 100° during the day! My nighttime temps had been dipping to just under 75°, but this morning it was a little over 80°. Much, much better.

The only downside is that BOTH lizards are mental now! It used to be just Amon who would tear around the cage... now Amaunette joins him! They both run around for a while, jump back on the basking rock to heat back up, then start zooming around and climbing all over each other again. And every time I walk by, they run over to me and beg for food.

to be acting like they are HEALTHY ! Collareds are quite active, and love to zoom around.

The begging for food is caused by humans spoiling their lizards, Mine beg also

That is one very awesome backround!
