Apparently from the forum, you recently purchased some leuc's. How many, how big were they when you got them in, and most importanly, where did you get them from? What size tank are they in, (And are you happy with them?)

I am about to get a trio, or more, depending on the imput I get back from the forum.

How many are a good number to put into a heavly planted 30 gal. I'm putting in a "second story" to allow for more room. I would like to order from a source who sells larger frogs, (rather than the ones who just emerged from the water). Any imput folks?

Nick

you can put six in if you want at five gallons a frog but i'd only put in four or five. check saurian.net, patrick usually sells larger frogs

I have 4 in a 20 gallon. I got mine from a pet store, so I can't help you out on source.

Whether you purchase adult frogs or froglets, you should still quarantine them for a few weeks, either calling it a nursery or a quarantine tank. This is just so you are keeping them in a small container to make sure all are healthy and eating well before you turn them loose in the planted habitat. It's no big deal, and can be done in a critter keeper modified for humidity, or a plastic sweater box with a damp substrate or wet paper towels. Purchasing breeding pairs or guaranteed pairs such as is recommended with D azureus if you are starting out with these, is more expensive and frankly not as interesting.

In any event, Saurian (Patrick Nabors) will work with you, give you advice, and Black Jungle is also a great source of healthy frogs. There are others that are probably equally as helpful, but I haven't yet had a sales experience with them personally. I think that most commercial breeders are honest and have guarantees.

I actually only have one leuc and he is not housed in the most ideal conditions right now. He is in a 10gallon with my tinc while I construct another enclosure (20gallon) to house him and a few more leucs I plan on purchasing. He came to me actually as a surprise "gift" (animals don't make good surprise gifts) and he was purchased at a local animla expo from LLL Reptile's table.

Sorry I am not much help, I'm super new to all of this, only about 7 months, and I am just learning as well.

Good luck!
