I wanted to ask at what age and size could I expect to first breed my female.

Hey,
Well I would dare say that, no respsonsible blood breeder would dare breed their bloods and or short-tails, before their third birthday. Reproductive maturity in bloods and stp's does not happen till after the 3rd year of development. As for size and weight, that would depend on a sound and logical feeding schedule on the part of the keeper. But to answer it logically, a female blood, should weigh no less than 15-20 Lbs and a male no less than 12-15 Lbs. As for lengths females should have a length commensurate with the species type. Red bloods in this case should be some where in the 4-5 ft range for a female and males should be no less than 3-4 ft at three years of age. Again, these weights an measurements are equivalent to snakes being fed on an intelligent feeding schedule on meals of appropriate weight and size.

Note: weights and size will vary greatly from animal to animal and will vary too, from keeper to keeper. However, this does give you some idea.

That's pretty much what I expected, good as she is about 4 and a half feet now and just past her third birthday, plus she's got good condition.
Many thanks

im not for certain on this, but ive been told that if power fed well, and grow accurately enough that breeding can be pushed at 18 months, im not sure if its ok to try this, but ive heard of people doing it. it wood be better to ask some big breeder companies when they breed there babies
