worried about using spring/well water, please advise...

ginevive Nov 16, 2004 11:51 AM

I know that drinking a lot of spring water (or well-water, which is pretty much the same thing) can lead to humans' getting ulcers, kidney stones, etc. Is there any reason to be concerned that drinking these types of water could be dangerous to ball pythons also?

If you already know that spring/well water gives humans ulcers and kidney stones, why on earth would you want to risk it on your animals? I personally would not.

I have been using bottled "filtered" water, not spring water, for the pets. Our tapwater is from a well.
Just wonderin'.

Unless you have a really really horrible water source, drinking spring or well water does NOT lead to ulcers or kidney stones. Where did you get this information?

If your drinking water is really that bad, go here.

What? We're supposed to give them water AND food? Geesh! Next you'll be telling me that I need to actually thaw the frozen rats before feeding. Ha Ha. Water! That's a good one! =)

We have well water and that is the ONLY kind of water my igs and other reptiles will drink or even soak in... We take all of our igs on vacation and we have to TAKE gallons of water for them. So be warned that they may get attached and trained to drink only one kind of water... Livestock do the same thing... I have seen well watered cows almost die of thirst before they would even consider touching any other kind of water no matter what was put in it, Such as powdered gatoraide and milks and differennt other products...
