I just researched your question on the Viper Boas being listed as Cites 1 for 2005. On the official website (http://www.cites.org/) there was a listing of the animals and plants that were added to or changed to the different levels of protection. The meeting was held in Bangkok, Thailand on October 2nd to the 14th. Appendix (CITES1) is reserved for the most highly threatened or near extinction animals. I just cant see where that is possible with the Viper Boa-Candoia Aspera. I need to dig a little harder and see if a current list of animals on each level is available- I could be completely wrong. I know the Solomon Islands dont allow the export of candoia paulsoni anymore (well, I keep hearing two different stories)but I dont believe that was a decision influenced by a Cites committee decision.
