Feeder Forum Articles/FAQs

phwyvern Nov 16, 2004 10:19 PM

Several people have asked about articles, care sheets, and faq's in regards to many aspects of feeder foods/animals (mice, crickets, etc.). I'm all for it, but there's got to be a catch - there is always a catch.

There are two possible ways this can be done.

(1) - create your own full length article and try to get that page included on the list of Feature Pages, Articles, & Care Sheets at kingsnake.com ( http://www.kingsnake.com/features.html ). The article would have to be hosted on your own webspace and you would be totally responsible for it's upkeep, etc.

The 2nd possibility is...

I can host some articles on my own webspace here on kingsnake.com.

I did a similar project for the iguana forum folks. I had a person give over a very basic article they had. I spent some time cleaning it up, adding stuff, etc. and presented it to the iguana forum at large. The forum members then offered their suggestions/opinions/alterations/additions/etc for it and I re-drafted. We did this quite a few times until everyone was fairly happy with the final outcome.

However, for this option to work, it would have to be a community creation of sorts. I can't really do it all from scratch by myself. I have no problems in putting something like this together, but I need something to work from (ie basic info/data/etc. from people here to start with) and meld it together into a new creation belonging to no one individual person.

Now...

For those people who prefer option one - go for it!

For those who would prefer a community creation, start offering ideas and info. Please, just don't expect any full or half length articles out of me in a short time span. I try to work on stuff like this when I have some free time and it could take a while. The iguana information page took about a year to put together when all was said and done, but people thought it was worth it (of course you pretty much have to write a dang book when talking about iguanas, no way around that...raising bugs and rodents as food isn't likely to be quite as involved ).

Lemme know what you all think.

I think it's a great ideal Especially about basic mouse/rat breeding, followed by crickets, roaches and silkworms. After than mealworms and superworms. I think that takes care of the majority of questions relating to care and breeding of feeders.

I think this is an awesome idea in light of the fact that almost all of the posts I see anymore are ones that were answered already in the past. Also seems that rodents have taken over this forum and I really find it hard to believe that there are so few of us keeping insect eating reptiles! I have a hard time spotting the insect posts as they get lost in all the rat stuff!
