serpentboy Nov 17, 2004 02:16 AM

Hello, I just recently got a 1.1 of bearded dragons in a trade. Im strictly a snake guy,and did not plan on keeping these guys but my wife and 4 yr old son just love them. I did not know they had so much personality. Im taking a liking to them to so I have decided to keep them. I was just posting in hopes to get some good feedback as to their care. I read that they eat vegs. But I guess the kid I got them from only fed them crickets, that's all they will eat, well worms too. They seem ver healty though. ne and all info would be gr8. Thanx alot Mike.... Pe@ce..

Read as much as you can on them. I've got some care sheets over on my site and so do some of the other people that post here regularly. I'd also read through the backlog on here. You're going to run into many conflicting ideas but after you read enough of them you'll get a sense of what to do.

I don't know how old your dragons are, but mine is 5 weeks old and all he'll eat is crickets. This website has great information to learn about them. I'm told that as he gets older, he'll switch to veggies more. A veterinary told me to put the veggies (collard greens, mustard greens, etc. in with the crickets in their box and they will eat it and then the dragon will get the benefit.

If your dragons are young they will be very picky eaters, as a rule of thumb baby dragons want crickets more than vegies but as they get older they start to eat more and more vegies. I have a male that is a little over a year now, when he first came home he didnt want anything to do with vegies, but now he eats almost any of the vegies that I offer him. I would give them crickets but continue to offer a variety of vegies as well.
