Orange Colors coming out BIG TIME

kofseattle Nov 17, 2004 09:00 AM

Hi,

HAve not been here in a while but still lurk now and again.

One of my female Collared lizards is displaying some incredible orange color around her neck area and on down her sides. It is a brilliant orange, like a traffic cone orange! What does this mean? She is well over a year old and this just came on in a day or two. Any thoughts on why she changed so dramtically? Is it a "ready to breed" color or something. Is she just lit-up for the boy? Opinions? Eve? Anyone?

Thanks in advance!

She is, most likely, gravid --with eggs-- and ready to mate and get them fertilized.
