Hi,
their temperaments are "aggressive, flighty and bitey, defecators, and seldom settle down, especially when living outdoors! They may reach lengths of nearly 7 feet in the wild (= not to be confused with V. juxtindicus which also attains similar lengths), and this is a formidable animal at that size.

As for 'dog tamed' do you mean tame with dogs? or as 'docile as a dog'? Well, I think the afore-mentioned you can answer that question.

There are of course exceptions to the rule, but those are few and between....but then again, I have read of a fellow who can call hippos, which are considered highly dangerous in Africa, from their lake and they will calmly quietly approach him, allow him to pet them, and so on, without offering any food of any kind, and they return to their abode. They will not do this if people are near him - so those hippos are 'docile as a dog' but most are not, and contrare, quite deadly adversaries to friend and foe alike!

cheers,
mbayless
