I just saw an ad for what a dealer is calling "Gibbon's turtles".
There is what appears to be a GIBBA turtle in attached photo.
IS there such a thing as a Gibbon's turtle or is this just another example of an ignorant 'dealer'?

I would say its probably a gibba turtle..I don't neccesarily think the dealer would be ignorant, afterall..What exactly does an english name count for?? Anyone can accurately call anything whatever they wish in english..If they had messed up the Latin name, then I'd have something to complain about.
Matt
Could be (Pelusios gabonensis), one of the African Side-necks. The ad states that it's African.
Ok, the ad does NOT say it's African. The picture somewhat matches Ernst and Barbour's description of a mature "P. gabonensis"---head color, carapace color, etc. With "Phrynops gibbus" the head is dark on top, and lighter below.
