Help, food being wasted in tanks

ram Nov 17, 2004 07:40 PM

I keep rats and mice in fishtanks. Everyday I throw a handfull of feed in there but alot of it is buried in the bedding and never eaten. Is there something I could construct and put into the tank to keep them from burying their food? Thanks a lot.

I would say, feed less. The alternative is feed from a hopper, in wire and they may waste less. I personally feed by just tossing in food onto the bedding. They eat it all or don't get more. Adjust to the needs of each group. Easy if you have a few, impractical for hundreds. When I had hundreds I fed by kibble and blocks left on top of the hardware cloth.
