funnyman527 Nov 17, 2004 09:29 PM

Does anyone use Mini-mealworms as a staple for their chams??

that's the site that sells them.

i kno their teeny tiny, but i'd be using them as food for Pygmy Chams (R. Brev).

Ow that site hurt my eyes.

One good thing about crickets is they're really juicy. Those mealys didn't seem to have a lot of moisture. Also they are mostly hard keratinous skin, which many people don't like as it can cause impactions.

As for the nutritional content though, I'm not really sure. I get confused because some sights list their nutritional info on dried buggies, while others list on live ones. Beautiful Dragons lists crix as having 21% protein, 6% fat, and 70% water. Though your site lists minis as 48% protein, 40% fat (that's alot of fat), and 56% water, they say they are the same as regular mealworms, which are 20, 12, and 62.

So I think that if you just fed those minis you could end up with some hefty chams from all that fat.
