shed problem

Arkie Jun 30, 2003 09:46 PM

my new red blood shed the first time since i have had him, the shed was perfect except for the head just behind the eyes all the way to the nose stayed intact. I did everything i thought i was supposed to as far as humidity and soaking are concerned but he is really head shy making it virtually impossible to remove by hand. Should i be concerned and has anyone else had this problem?

well, you could try to convince it to soak its head if you can do that.Or you can wet a sponge and try to wipe off its face to loosen the skin.Putting some damnp sphagnum moss in the hide box is also good to do also.i havent ever had any problems with my blood shedding so far,and hopefully i wont ever.hope this helped ya,and good luck in the future...

oh yeah, they also sell some stuff in pet stores that aids inshedding, not sure if it works well or not, never used it ,thought id mention it though.

I had the same problem with my rainbow boa, I just kept misting her head with a spray bottle, while I was holding her, then after doing so about 10 mins I would try to rub it off or pull it off.It is hard to do so but her nostrols were clogged and I noticed her breathing sounded like an RI.As soon as I finally got off the old skin she sounded normal again.Good luck
