Blue red tailed boas?

DeviledApple Nov 18, 2004 01:05 AM

I keep coming across pictures here and there of what look like red tail boas with alot of blue hue in the normally-light-brown areas... Has anyone seen this too? I figured it MIGHT just be the way the photos get taken, but it looks so lovely whenever i happen across it, I'm wondering if perhaps this is a colour morph anyone is familiar with?

WOW!thats in one beautiful animal! i wonder if through selective breeding you could eventually get a solid blue boa?

i cant find the specific picture i saw today that really got me wondering, but the blue looked more like the blue hue in this snake... just the one i saw looked less speckled and more like an actual blue red tail boa. This one is freakin lovely too though, i LOVE blue in reptiles...

(this is just someones photo from the photo album, it is not my own snake, or my own photo)

Now that i've tried to inquire about it, i cant find *any* of the photos that i had noticed in the past, perhaps i've jsut been halucinating from staying up too late looking at said photos. The ones i remember seeing are normally browsing through the kingsnake photo gallery... and i've looked quite extensively at those trying to find an example of what i've been seeing.

Neh, your not nuts at all. There has been a post before about the blue redtails before with a pic attached. It was an absolutly beautiful animal and I think a wild import. And the person said they were going to try and prove it out to see if it was genetic. Hmmm I wonder if I'm nuts too and imagining this all too I swear there are some out there, just not many that look alot like some sort of "super hypo" almost like the salmon posted above.

but it a blue/black. Some of the best blue I've seen is on the heads of Long-Tailed Boas. This is a picture I took of an Argentine cross, he is very silver. The photo is unaccurate, the flash has made him look much more blue than he actually is... but a neat picture.
Good luck-
Matt

Here are a few pics showing the slight blue tint to one of mine.

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about, but here is a picture my only "blue" BCI. He looks anerytheristic except that there is red in his tail and he has a faint pink tint under his eyes.

Thanks for looking,

Lauren
