Question about thermometer new tank ;]

S1NPLYS1K Nov 18, 2004 02:58 AM

Hey guys! I'm going to petsmart/petco tomorrow and buying a thermometer for my cage...and possibly buying a new tank to re-house a few critters...

Now about the therm...I'm buying the strip for now...I'm going to place it on the cage in the basking area...my question is...where should i place it on the tank? Near the top or near the bottom?

Ok now on to my next question...

I'm buying another 10 gal. to house my house geck and my LT grass lizard...and leaving the 2 anole's to this tank...

will this suffice? 2 anoles in 1 tank...1 HG 1 LTGL in the other?

thanks!

I have a digital thermometer in with my anoles. It messures the temp in 2 different locations...the basking spot and near the bottom. Also the humidity level. Walmart has them for $15. The stick on ones won't be accurate although I use them on a couple of my snake tanks. It's recommended 10 gallons per anole. and they like a tank with more height. A 20 gallon high would be perfect for 2 anoles. Not sure on the size for the house gecko or long tailed lizard.

Put the thermometer near the basking spot, a few inches below it, and ideally, put another one on the other side of the tank.

I would get the largest tank possible for your Anoles, especially because we are thinking they are both males....

two male anoles in a 10gallon tank is going to equal disastor, sooner or later.

I am not *positive* on the LTGL, because i've never had one, but i think they prefer floor space. Perhaps a 20L would be better? And hopefully not that much more expensive. The house gecko should be ok. They are tough little guys.
