Types of uromastyx

romeo11523 Nov 18, 2004 07:10 AM

I was just wondering the difference in the types of uromastyx, what is the difference and is it big. I see ornates all over the place but there quite a bit more than mali's or nigerians. Is it all in the color, size, or the way they act? I like the nigerian (red) and the somalian (blue. What color do malis turn if they even do? I was just curious.

You can go to Deer Fern Farms to the "Species Available" page. There are photos and descriptions of the different common species, including sizes and average personalities.

Malis can be anywhere from tan speckled to all black to black with yellow backs and feet. There's quite a few Mali photos on that site.

yeah malis have subtle colors. helga is mostly grey with yellow hues throughout and hugo is still the brownish color but he has yellow down his spine that turn orangish by his tail. it is amazing though how many colors you can see on them in natural sunshine. this old, before she peeled all those nasty layers off. she looks mostly brown in it

Here is a pic of my mali named Milo. As you can see he has brown & yellow patched thru out his back. Still a little guy though.
