Fat-tails Hardy?

pdm Nov 18, 2004 11:17 AM

I got an African fattail last nigth but was talking to some people today & they say that this is not a hardy lizard. That you must make sure that the humidity & temps are just right & regulated & they are easy to catch a respritory infection. etc.
Now I'm worried I got in over my head. Has anyone had problems with the african fat-tail?

Mine seem hardy enough. I havent had problems in 2 years, with the exception of a couple I got that were sick when I got them.
I would say they are a little more delicate then Leo's.

Family ZOo,

Please tell me what you keep the day & night temps at & what percentage the humidity is in their cage.

Day - 82F to 88F;
Night - 76F to 82F
Humidity in mine is 74% (on the substrate) right now on the wet side. One side is dry one is damp (ish). Hide box is over wet side, so I’m sure it’s even more humid. As long as you have a humid box for it, it will be ok. Just don’t let the enclosure get bone dry.
I have had better luck with an underground heater then when I tried bulbs for heat.
