Leo acting VERY VERY strange...need advice BADLY...more

bmills Jun 30, 2003 10:08 PM

My leo just got done with 5 days of medication, and then I wait 2 weeks, and give 5 more days of medication, but she ahs been done for a week now, and she has very jerky movements, and will bite in mid air for not reason many times in a row, and will follow my hand at all times, and will even try to bite my finger through the glass of the tank, and freaks out at movements and noise, she just to be GREAT. She would come to my hand when I put it in the tank, and she never got scared or freaked out. I can't understand what happened. She has pulled a total 180. She is over a year old too. I'm so confused, and I'm not sure what could have caused it or what I can do to fix it. PLEASE LET ME KNOW

How are you giving her medication? if you have to force feed it to her she's probably really stressed out. give her time and she'll come around.

Yea, I had to use a syringe and stick it in her mouth and squirt it in. So I had to force feed her. Will she get back to how she was? I loved her, she was my favorite, and now she is freaking out all the time.

What was your leo diagnosed with, what medication were you giving her and what was the dosage?

IF ITS FLAGYLL YOU ARE USING BE CAREFUL THAT IS HOW MY MALW SHCT Acted right before he went into a seisure and died. The flagyll can cause brain and neurological problems. I would leave him completely alone, cover cage with towel. and only go in their for maintenance and leave him for a while until they calm down. The stress of administering the medication can kill them. be carefull.

I was just told that he has protozoans. I checked her this morning and she isn't as jumpy and doesn't freak out when I put my hand near the tank. I heard a lot of hissing last night while in bed, but everything seems to be much better this morning. I will check again tonight and see how she is doing.
