geckos "standing" in the corner

iamyour_messiah Nov 18, 2004 04:10 PM

Alright so I have 2 juvenile leopard geckos which I bought about 2 weeks ago. I had them in the same cage at first but was forced to separate them becasue one was really dominant and it caused the other one to just stay in the hide all day and night long and not eat.

Anyway, even before I separated them I noticed that one of the geckos often went into a corner of the cage and sort of stood there on its 2 back legs. I wouldnt find it strange if she stood there for only a couple minutes, but Im starting to think she just stands there all night becasue every time i walk in shes standing there.

After I separated them the one that was doing it originally is still doing it. I just went in to check, and the other one which was constantly hiding earlier is doing it as well now. (Though its the first time i see it...)

The leopard geckos I used to have never did this, and if they did, deffinately not very often. So im wondering, do all your leopard geckos do this as well, and should I be worried?

Does it appear that he is looking at somthing? I notice my leo standing watching the cricket container at night...But most of the time when I walk in my leo is laying on top of his rock hide, Warming himself underneath his ceramic bulb. Im not sure what your leo cound be doing...but mabey (If he is doing this on the warm side of his cage and you have some type of bulb) He could just be trying to get closer to the heat. You should wait for other people to post though, They will probably know alot more on this topic than I will.

Mine do that, they're trying to get somewhere
Mine will stand on their hind legs, wiggle their front ones like they're climbing and subsequently fall over.

Hilarious really, there's nothing wrong

I currently have four leopard gecko's. Only one does this. Some do, some don't. I have another that likes to dig - even though it's just paper towels. She digs every evening. They have their own personal traits. Makes them more interesting!

lol...Mine digs in their paper towels too...Also once in a while he will climb ontop of of a river rock in his cage, Back himself into the corner and do his "business" on top of the rock...Also he will go ontop of his little bridge thingie and just peer down at the tiles...as if he sees somthing. Leo's are so fun...and they arent exacly the brightest crayon in the box, but that makes up alot of their personality

I keep all my leos in glass tanks, and sometimes when I drop the crickets in, the stalk the reflections, and tyhen get really confused at the other gecko (their reflection) going after their food, and don't notice the cricket standing under their chest. Also sometimes they after crickets in the cage next door.

lol! They are fun to watch! I have one - the one that likes to dig - that sometimes when it's feeding time I will find her sitting in her food bowl! It's like she's saying, "Where have you been?"

I have one of my geckos in a cage right beside my computer, she thinks that the cord to the mouse is a worm, and the clicking of the mouse always beings her out, she will stare at the cord forever
