Yellow/Golden Russian Tortoise?

Will A. Nov 18, 2004 07:36 PM

A year or 2 ago, I saw a few interesting Russian tortoises circulating in the local shows in the Northeast, specifically White Plains, NY. They were very light and had no pattern whatsoever. I would have picked up a few but there were only females available. These guys looked nothing like the Russians around before or since then. I'm wondering if anyone has them or remebers anything like what I'm describing. Thanks...

So, have you seen any of these circulating. Is anyone breeding them?

>>So, have you seen any of these circulating.
...they seems quiet down quite a bit after that "invasions"...there was just a few here and there a year later or so...

>>Is anyone breeding them?
..it's more a question of who is succeed in breeding them despite the limit numbers of those sailor boys who got here back then...also their lifeline validation/expiration are another question given their wc status, like ALL "wc" visa in general...

...email me if you still in pain from that nasty bug bite... I can dig up some refs...

Hey Will,

Do you mean like this guy? This is Seymour, one of my RT's. I'll see if I have a better pic from above.

P.S. The herd of Pyxis is all doing great. You were right about that 'lil planicauda, he's an aggressive little one.

Mike, the Russians I'm talking about look very different from your picture. These were very yellow and had no dark color at all. They were as yellow as the head of the Burmese baby I had in my picture. They looked liked a very golden, golden greek. I regret not picking them up. Anyway.
I'm glad to hear about the Pyxis. I knew that planicauda baby was going to be a star...
