Basking light

xcrashx21 Nov 18, 2004 08:48 PM

Just a curiousity. I turn my basking light on and off with my uva/uvb light. 12hrs on 12hrs off. Would it be ok just to leave the basking light on all the time? My turtles are very active but also love basking.

i am not really sure... but i 'think' that the turtles need that 12 hours of dark time to simulate night in the wild so that they know when to sleep! i think it would be like us sleeping in the daylight all of the time....

I didn't know if it possibly made a difference because it is one of the red lights.

my sliders will only bask if my lights are on and wont if they are off. if they are on all the time the might not know when to sleep
