If they are indeed CAPTIVE BRED, that would be a good price. The fact that the price is $395 with the 5 standing out, tells me that they are from a dealer and probably are not captive bred. Most breeders, including myself, wouldn't consider selling established baby chondros for less than $400-500. I would guess they are probably imports.

i would like have a few pairs of them some day down the road but i wanna learn more about them and their care requirements.
know of any good chondro books.
Don't let all the old myths steer you away from these beauties. They are simply the easiest captives I've ever dealth with, other than hatching eggs and getting babies to feed.
Although I don't own it yet, Greg Maxwell's "Complete Chondro" is said to be a superb read and probably the best source of information on chondros to date. There is another book out of Germany that is also very informative and is also available in an English version. The only difference is, the Europeans view breeding in a much different fasion than in the U.S. They are more focused on locality animals rather than designer animals. To me they're all chondros and they're all beautiful. I would recommend a dozen to anyone.

sounds like an import to me. Many exciting breeding projects are coming up, so people are saving money or selling animals to make money for new ones. Just wait around for a good captive bred chondro because there should be some available very soon from numerous breeders/keepers. Check out the chondroweb forum or the ezboard moreliaviridis forum classifieds; they usually have nice captive bred animals for sale periodically. It SEEMS like on kingsnake.com that at least 75% of the animals are Wild-caught, but I could be wrong. I'm waiting for some of Brandon Osborne's Sedgewick Clutch. Those things are awesome and have globs of potential at a bargain price.
You can find nice truely CB chondros in the $350 - $400 range if you look around. I know because I just sold a sub-adult male for $350. It all depends on who you buy from. I would agree that the vast majority of the people advertising in the KS classifieds are selling imported animals. What you have to do is know who you are buying from... this is easy as the chondro "community" is relatively small and everyone practically knows everyone. Ask for pics of the parents, hatching pics, or at least for some references. There are several breeders that I know of who routinely sell rock solid babies for under $400.
