Cage Size

I'm keeping a juvi crested in an 18 gal glass enclosure (length and width are like a 10 gal, only about twice as tall). His total length is about 3 1/2" right now, and the enclosure is pretty full of branches, vines, and artificial plants. Is this enclosure too large? I always place the fruit or CG diet in the same corner, and I know he eats it, but as far as I can tell he hasn't caught a single cricket, I have to keep removing them the next day.
I'm fairly certain the breeder I got him from raised him in a rack-type system. I would like to hear opinions on whether you think he would be better off in a smaller enclosure until he's larger.
Thanks in advance,

Thats a hard call because he/she might just not have a interest in crickets. Most of mine are fiends when it comes to crickets and crickets dont last a minute in very large cages. But I have a few that simply dont care and watch the crickets go by...they eat their Crested gecko diet mix so I dont worry about it.I had a couple that didnt show any interest for a long time so ild take the crickets back out but one day started eating them. As long as he/she is eating the other food I wouldnt sweat it too much. Just keep offering every so often.

You might want to try feeding crickets in a seperate container.... like a rubbermaid. That way you can moniter if it is actually eating the crickts and if not, you won't have to round them all up out of the enclosure.

That's what I do. My Crested didn't seem to interested in them when I feed in his cage, but when I put him in a smaller container he attacks them like you wouldn't believe. Makes it easier to monitor what he eats and I don't have to worry about hiding crickets in his cage.
