So...just how many morphs are heterozygous for Leucistic???

CJBianco Nov 19, 2004 09:29 AM

Okay. This is driving me mad! Can someone please help me in my quest to get a handle on all these high-end solid-colored genetics?

Cinnamon x Cinnamon = Super Cinnamon
Yellow Belly x Granite = Ebony
Woma x Woma = Pearl

So what makes the Ivory, Blue-Eyed Leucistic, and Black-Eyed Leucistic?

Mojave? Lesser Platinum? Fireball? Butter Ball?

I'm so confused!!!

Chris

chris here it is as I understand it.

Yellow Belly X Yellow belly = Ivory

Fire Ball X Fire Ball = Black Eyed luey

Platinum X Mojave or Platinum or Phantom so far = blue Eyed Luey Ralph Davis and Morph king

Lemon ball X lemon Ball = blue eyed luey...Vin Rousso line

I could be wrong but Vinny's Het LUEY's look nothing like Raplhs Hets but yet they still produce the same looking SUPER WHITE snake....Hummmmmm interesting

So we have two or possibly even three mutants that produce mimic phenotypes. Or there is one mutant, and nobody has a clue to the real genetics. Time will tell.

Have any leucistics reached adulthood and produced babies yet?

I believe that NERD produced hatchlings from a female leucistic this year and Peter Kahl may have produced several clutches from the first publicly posted leucistic female. Neither has posted pics or any information of what the babies look like to my knowledge.

Ralph Davis should have males old enough to breed this winter so it will be interesting to see what they produce, especially since at least one of those is from a lesser X phantom. I suspect that lesser and phantom are at least alleles (different mutations of the same gene). If they are alleles then the lesser X phantom leucistic shouldn't be able to produce any normals when bred to a normal. It should only produce lesser and phantoms or a mix of intergrades if lesser and phantom are the exact same mutation and other genes in each line make the differences in appearance.
