Found this really odd - a turtle living outside our house a few days ago - in the road. Anyway - I "rescued" her and we've decided to keep her as a pet. I thought it was odd that she had not gone into hybernation yet?

Anyway - right now we have an aquarium set up with some reptile bark, a box with an opening for her to hide out in, a water dish, and a food dish and box turtle food. She will not eat the store bought food but I gave her a nightcrawler from my organic garden yesterday and she ate it - FAST. Also, I put her in tepid water today for a soak and she drank (I had noticed she wasn't going near her water dish either).

OK - so I know she is freaked out. I want to set up a living environment for her that is proper but I can not build anything to save my life. Can anyone recommend something I can buy for housing for her? She is about 5 inches (shell size). Then - it looks like I am supposed to buy some type of heating pad for under her cage. We bought a clip on lamp already.

Thank you for your help. I want to keep our girl (we named her Molly Shannon) healthy. I am worried about her stress and not hybernating. I think we got her on Tuesday so she has only been inside for 3 days. Would it be better for me to go put her back in the wild? Where should I take her?

Thank you for your expertise and help.
