HELP! MY SNAKES HAS FUNGUS

herb s Nov 19, 2004 01:44 PM

My female pinesnake has had this green fungus on spots of her underside for a while now. I keep washing her with soap and water and also putting an anti-fungus medicane on her. It keeps coming back. Does anyone know what this is and how I can cure it?

I would try warm soaks in diluted betadine baths (1:20 ish with water) for about 15 minutes 2x a day. Switch the substate in his tank to dry paper towel and change that daily or every other day as long as it is dry and clean. This will work ....i have used this method on dozens of snakes (i used to be a reptile specialist). Continue the soaks for a bout a week.. Oh, and before you soak with betadine, make sure that your snake is properly hydrated so he doesnt injest any of the solution. Good luck.

you could also try a product called "super fungus cure plus" it would be in the fish section of a pet store. It is a blue liquid that is totally non-toxic when diluted with water. You would want a 4 to 1 ratio (1 oz of super fungus cure to 4 oz of water, and then soak your animal for about 10 minutes a day until you notice the fungus going away. The down side is that it may stain your snake blueish until it sheds
