How long can i keep a rabbit in the freezer?

.. you keep rabbits in hutches. They die real fast if you try to keep them in the freezer.
Sorry, couldn't resist the set up. I've always heard the rule of thumb is six months if they're in regular ziplocks. After that they start losing nutritional value. A lot has to do with the initial preparation before freezing, if they're frozen too slowly (which is easy to have happen the larger the item) they have the nasty black belly and all.
The main thing for me is what it's like when you've thawed it out. Yes, it will smell like a wet dead rodent, but it shouldn't smell like a ROTTEN wet dead rodent. I'm sure you already realize that, but sometimes people get too dependent on timelines. I've reluctantly thrown away 3 month old frozen feeders because they were bad. Then again, someone recently gave me some large rats almost two years old (frozen). They were perfectly clean, hardfrozen, not burned, they thawed out with no bad smell. I wouldn't feed ones that old exclusively, but neither I nor my snakes had any trouble with these, I just alternated them with fresher.
