Pooping

monocledcobra Nov 19, 2004 08:23 PM

My new dragon has only pooped once this week. Got him on Saturday, and he pooped on Monday. He hasnt pooped since. Temps are fine, eating dusted crix, hasnt touched his greens yet, and drinks when sprayed. Should I be concerned?

Run some warm water in the tub and put your buddy in there for aropund 10 or 15 minutes and that should get things moving.... If not let us know and we'll go from there. I have a feamle that won't go poopy till you actually put her in the tub... LOL
She's so spoiled.... doesn't want to soil her surroundings...LOL

It is serious but we'll try a few things......

I tried the water thing. He was only in there 5 minutes. Should I try longer? If it doesnt work what should I do?

laws-yes Nov 19, 2004 08:46 PM

Try it for 15 minutes and make sure the water is warm.... if it is an adult pooping once a week is not uncommon mine goes once or twice a week.

monocledcobra Nov 19, 2004 08:48 PM

He's only 5 months old.

laws-yes Nov 19, 2004 08:51 PM

What subtrate are you keeping him on and what are your temps?

monocledcobra Nov 19, 2004 08:57 PM

I have him on newspaper, and his temps are 105 basking spot. 84 (air temp) on the cooler side.

He's very alert and active. Everything is moving ok. No convulsion, or twitching. He's got a good size belly. When I got him (on Sat.) he was 10.5 inches, 85 grams.

Hmm what size crickets are you feeding him and what veggies?

monocledcobra Nov 19, 2004 09:06 PM

His crickets are 1/8''. Not to small, but not to big for him. The veggie mix he gets (but hasn't touched) is kale, endive, collard, mustard, a little romaine, and a little shredded carrot.

Success.....he just dropped a GIANT load in the tub I set up for him. Hopefully he'll learn that its ok for him to crap in his cage!

Isn't it strange that we celebrate poopy....ROFL.... Forget about nim pooping in the cage now... He has experienced the joy of underwater pooping....LOL ...now he gets to go back to his unpoopy cage...hehe..

My adult is the same way. Usually twice, sometimes once.
