I think the food item is too big and your snake is intimidated, maybe if you take the shell off? It's worth a try.

Scent it with lizard.....if that does'nt work, try a live one still atatched to the bush.........mike.........nice thayer by the way, looks familiar.

That's only because the snake is in your hand bro. Put the snake in a deli cup with that nutritious meal and leave it alone overnight. LOL Tom Stevens

You may need to scent transfer. No! just kidding! He may actually attempt it! Also, you may want to tease him a little with some movement. I hear that when peanuts feel threatened, they lie real still and don't move.
Best..

Good to see some humor on here.

thats because they prefer "pecans""nueces" to "peanuts""cocoahuates",its a range thing but perhaps you could scent!, anyhow goodluck and have fun with it,,,,,,,,thomas

my snake just regurged the peanut it ate last nite!

BlueKing Nov 20, 2004 09:04 AM

so it can't regurgitate! He'll have no choice but to digest it!Make sure you only put zip-tie on tight enough to touch all parts of neck, but not tight enough to keep snake from breathing or drinking! Good luck, hope it works.
That's why I NEVER buy a snake from anyone unless it's had at least three peanuts!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Children, don't try this at home!!!

THANKS ZEE, but what i think i'm gonna do is wait 2 weeks for his digestive track to repair, meanwhile i'll set up his terrarium with a different temp. in each corner and put 6 hides in so he won't have a problem feeling comfortable. If this don't work then i'll try the ziptie stratigie.

out to cut firewood.

Try taking a clean (pre-boil to remove any human scent) pair of scissors and (I know this is gross) cut right through the shell at the small end. Really work the scissors around inside and smear the nut pieces all over the outside. Bammmmm!! the snake should latch on in no-time.

This is close to picture of the year.

I can't believe you would post such an IMMATURE picture. Some of the New Hobbyists might try this at home. I've heard that some snakes are HIGHLY ALLERGIC to peanuts. This snake could return home to kiss his domestic partner/s and KILL it/them with peanut breath. Under NO circumstances should anyone attempt to feed peanuts to snakes. IF, because of this MORONIC picture, you have fed peanuts to your snake and it has gone into anaphylactic SHOCK seek veteranarian attention immediately. Be sure that they are GOOD with herps first, and make sure they recommend only VEGETARIAN diets before trusting your companion to them.

. . . they can smell the scent of the Adult peanut on it! (Therefore wash peanut thoroughly with soap & water)Adult peanuts have been known to kill baby snakes on occasion! They ARE voracious predators and LOVE to prey on elephants. This phenomenon can usually be witnessed in large zoos around the country!!! If you'd like to try, just bring an elephant to your local zoo and take it to the peanut pen - and watch what happens!!! Those suckers actually beg for'em and may actually come out of their exoskeleton to feed on the hapless packiderms!!!

Kids: don't try that at home either!

GOOD LUCK!!!

THAT'S with WILD peanuts not the domesticated/lab peanuts which are geneticly engineered to have a more mild odor, it's always a good idea to give your peanut colony some vanilla extract every once in awhile to keep them happy also that will keep the adult male peanuts from eating the baby peanuts,IMO.
