This is Charlie's tail before & after his amputation. Originally I had thought that he developed an infection after breaking his tail, but with the rate of decay, I'm more inclined to agree with the vet and say that it was a shedding problem that cut off blood-flow to his tail. Anyway, I'm going to gaurdedly put his condition at "better" since his operation of Wed... I hope it lasts & he pulls through.
As a result, I'm now misting the chams like crazy & I think I might be over-doing the dotting thing... Emma's getting a little miffed at all the attention I pay to her unshed skin, but I'm not keen on having a repeat of the Charlie tail episode...
