During the day when im not home i know that Kiwi must get bored considering that he pushes his food bowl off of his shelf (my mom has caught him doing this before, and i find the mess) and sometimes tears up his newspaper substrate. I am trying to think of something to keep him occupied when im not home. I was thinking of a small fish bowl with a beta sitting outside of his cage. I also want to add a few things to the inside of his cage and switch them out now and then for variety, but since igs dont really "play" like birds or dogs or cats i am having trouble occupying him. If any of you have suggestions or comments they are all greatly apprieciated!

Thanks, Mark and Kiwi

Iguanas are actually quite intelligent, and they evolved in a very active natural environment -- so they get bored.

I work from the home, and Rex is next to me all day; he watches me, very actively. I talk to him as I work, and hold him when I'm waiting for something on the computer. He also enjoys looking out the window, and observing the turtles and Clyde (the plated lizard).

I know some people who keep a TV near their iguana; frankly, I think TV's below an iguana's intelligence, but it may be better than nothing!

*Any* pet gets bored when there's nothing going on. My parents have a small dog that is ferentic, I believe, because they work all day and leave it home alone.

My iguana throw his bowl down the shelf too, at first i believe it was an accident but i now i'm sure its not, lol.
Were not home all day so he must get pretty bored too. When were home we give him plenty of attention but it might not be enough. Maybe i can convince my wife of buying him an Xbox ?

My sons iguana Tiny just lays under his basking light all day. I guess this is why he is FAT. My husband works at home and Tiny is in the room with him but he just loves to hang out and eat all day.

Position his cage in front of a window so he can look
out. Mine like to watch the birds and squirrels and the
dogs if they happen to be out in the back yard. Another
advantage is they can appreciate the seasons better with
the change in day/night.

A window that faces the east or south is best. I wouldn't
put him in front of a window in an open cage. Windows can
be very drafty. My igs have enclosures and the back, half
way up, is glass so they can look out the window.

Iggi likes to watch TV with bright colors on the screen. We tune in Home and Garden TV, while we go out to shop. Iggi is a free roamer, but will lay in her basking spot, and watch the TV the whole time we are gone.
