What are the "vents" on a pythons face? They are not the same as in vipers for heat indicators, correct?

kool. thanks Joe. I didn't think that they were but I am glad to be proven wrong because that makes them that much cooler.

Is there any reason why on the balls, and other pythons, they are all over the upper lip where in vipers they are small 'holes'/'dots' on either side? Just a variation or actual purpose to them being smaller?

thanks again
