Balls Breeding

FerrisBueler Nov 20, 2004 07:04 PM

First off, I own a 1 and a half year old male ball python. Today I traded in my corn snake for a female sub-adult ball python. I have her in a 40gallon because i am looking to get another female before next winter, so I can breed my male with the two females. I wont be getting the other female anytime soon (maybe not until this summer or next fall) but would it be possible for me to breed me male and female this winter? I am all set. They could definatly "do it" in the 40, and I have a 10gallon for incubation. I will soon get a 20 for my male, so the babies could go into the 15gal that my male is in now.

Is it possible?

Thanks, Ryan

You're going to need to buy an incubator if you plan on breeding them. Also, sence you didn't seem to realise this, I would recomend reading up a lot more on breeding. It has great rewards, but can be difficult if you are not well prepared, easpecially if yur eggs die.

eggs need moisture and a constant temp.....

this is generally dome with an airtight rubbermaid (appropriate size of course), vermiculite, and somewhere where the temp stays constant in the 80-85 degree range depending on species.....

eggs are easy to hatch.....you can email me and i will give you step by step.....

i have hatched out about 2-300 eggs using this method and never lost one.....some arent viable to begin with, but theres nothing we can do about this......

good luck

Actually, I've read up lots on breeding. I'm just curious if anyone could successfully breed a 1 1/2 year old male Ball Python and a 3 year old female. It seems unlikely because of my males age, but I think it might be possible.

Thanks anyways,
Ryan
