Burgandy? Opinions please...

bristen Nov 20, 2004 07:41 PM

This animal does not belong to me, but belongs to someone in the area who I just met recently. Do you guys think this is what a burgandy should look like? There's basically no black on that animal... it's hard to take pictures that represent it's true colors, but where ever we should normally see black on it, it's brown or a red-ish brown... some areas have a brown that is very dark, however it doesn't look like black.

He's had it for 7 years and it was at least a year or two when he got it. He believes it is a female (I did not probe her yet, but it's great size at 2579g). Anyways, since it's been around for at least 8 to 9 years, I would think it was definately an import... Never been bred before, so genetics are totally unproven at this point. I forgot to ask the guy if it had clear sheds. Will do that soon. Anyways, let me know what you think!

Thanks for looking,
Bristen.

that it is a burgundy. Keep in mind that sometimes they prove
to be genetic and sometimes not. It does look very similar to
other burgundies I've seen. Can you post a pic of her with
a normal ball for comparison?
On many of the burgundies I've seen, they also have a unique
belly (kind of smeared looking/creamy).

Good luck!

What about the fading ?
The color on my girls sides almost disappear towards her belly.

Here is my big female burg! Last I weighed her she was approx 2200 grams. She's being bred to a Cinny pastel! I'll have to wait and see what happens! This was the best picture out of all the ones taken! You can see her true color and the black pigment is non-existant!

Hi folks,

I'll work on getting pictures of the belly and a comparison pic with a normal Ball... I'll also try to take pictures of sides to show if there's any blushing or not... It will be a few days before I can get that done, so I'll post a new thread once I get them. Thanks for the replies so far everyone.

Thanks,
Bristen.

Wow, nice pics, but you are right it's hard to show her real color in those pic's.

Search for previous burgundy posts and you will see
a great example of this morph...
